Full House Weatherboard Replacement and Repaint in Petone Wellington

Having recently purchased a new home, the homeowner wasn't just going to paint over the deteriorating cedar weatherboards, they wanted a permanent solution for their family home that would last. Craig recommended replacing their existing cedar weatherboards with linear pine. This is due to the fact that it is a more durable, hardy material that will perform better in the long-run as it will be exposed to sunlight (their property in Petone, Wellington was north-facing).

The other advantages of using linear pine weatherboards are that they can be purchased off-the-shelf, which means they're extremely cost-effective (important for new homeowners), they're pre-primed (which saves time and money) and they're just generally more modern and longer lasting - it was a clear choice. In this instance the full material cost was only 33% of the cedar alternative.

The result is a customer that was very happy with their new home in Petone Wellington, especially after we completed a repaint of the weatherboards too which will add a lot of visual value and potentially help them at the time of resale.

It is unfortunate that Craig continues to encounter homes in the wider Wellington region that were constructed in the 90's and contain these issues such as cedar weatherboard cupping caused by poor material choices (for fixings) at the time of installation. With all of the sunlight (and wind) that Wellington receives, it is really important to choose the correct weatherboard material for your family home.
